Bid Opening Held For New Sewage Department Storage Unit

The Muskingum County Commissioners held a bid opening for a new sewage department storage unit.

The building will be 50 feet by 80 feet. We had the chance to speak to Muskingum County Commissioner, Jerry Lavy who told us how the project will benefit the community.

“Well it will benefit the community by helping us with our sewer department equipment. The vehicles–they need some additional room there at our location on the Newark Road and this will help with that. So vehicles dont have to sit out in the weather and there will be a storage building.”

The estimated cost of the project is around $140,000 and 5 bids were submitted by different contractors. Lavy told us about the plans going forward.

“What we’ll do is, we took the bids under advisement today and they will be going through and researched to make sure which one is the most comparable that will fit what we are looking for and so once that determination is made by the Director of the Sewer Department then he’ll come back to the board and recommend which vendor.”

Lavy expects the project to begin as soon as the bid is chosen.
