Muskingum County Appoints New Treasurer

Muskingum County now has a new treasurer.

The Muskingum County Republican Party has appointed Chris Hamill to the position. She was chosen last night out of 6 others. Hamill said she feels that she can bring many qualities to the table.

"Muskingum County deserves to have leadership serving in the capacity of County Treasurer. I believe I can bring my qualities of leadership and dedication to this office. I have already spoken to the office staff and they are very excited to have me coming as their full time treasurer."

The County Commissioners appointed an Interim Treasurer and Hamill will soon serve out the term until September of 2017. Hamill will appear on the ballot in March of 2016 and will run as an incumbent. Hamill said she is looking forward to her new line of work.

"I basically have had an interest for a while. I know that they’re needing someone to be full time treasurer and I’m looking forward to filling that position."

Hamill served on the Board of Elections for 18 years. 6 of those were served as Director.
