MVHC Expanding To Cambridge
The Muskingum Valley Health Centers are expanding to include the Cambridge area.
CEO Dan Atkinson said they will offer access to primary care for the adult population. He says they hope to be able to offer health services for children as well, and eventually expand to include behavioral health services for counseling, and dental services. Atkinson told us more about the location.
"The facility will be located on Clark Street very close to the hospital. We’re working with Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center for a specific space to actually operate the facility out of."
Atkinson explained the center will be funded with a $650,000 operating grant. That money covers operating expenses and pays for expenses incurred for uncompensated care. Atkinson says it will be a benefit to the community.
"Rhe main benefit to the community for those organization is to provide access to comprehensive primary care services. Our mission as MVHC is to provide affordable, accessible and quality healthcare."
The new center should bring an estimated 15 jobs to the area. The anticipated opening date is September 1st.
