Animal Shelter Seeking Donations For Dog’s Surgery
It’s Friday once again, and it’s time to introduce you to the pet of the week!
Kenza is a 5 year old German Shepherd mix. She was one of the dogs that was in quarantine at the fairgrounds. She was released with a clean bill of health. Shelter Executive Director, Jody Murray said they are seeking the community’s assistance before she can go up for adoption.
“Once Kenza came down, was given an exam by our vet, we found out that she has an injured ACL. So we’ve been in the process of trying to make arrangements for her surgery–it’s kind of a specialized surgery and where we’re at right now, we’re here to ask for the community’s help. Her surgery is going to be about $1,300. So we’re trying to do a little small fundraising just for Kenza.”
Kenza loves to give kisses, play and gets along well with other animals. Murray says she will make a great family pet. Her surgery is scheduled for the end of May so the shelter is hoping to raise the money by then. Murray says you can donate directly to the Animal Shelter. To help other animals, Murray said you can take part in some upcoming fundraisers.
“Our annual shelter fun day which will be June the 6th. Again just a day to come out, have some fun, we’ll have some small items. We’ll do a Chinese auction, the big highlight Ii think is the K9 unit from the Sheriffs Department. Again, starts at 10AM, will run till noon. We’re going to have some special priced adoptions that day, crafts for kids and things like that.”
Family Fun Day is going to be held at the Animal Shelter. There is also the annual Paws and Claws Summer Jam which will be held at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds on June 13th. Tickets are $5 and the funds go back to support the work of the shelter. You can learn more details about both events by visiting the Shelter or calling the number: (740)452-1077
