Zemba Brothers host 15th Annual Family Field Day
Almost 2,000 people got stuck in the mud May 17, but it didn’t seem to hamper the mood.
The Zemba Brothers hosted their 15th annual Family Field Day. The event ran until four in the afternoon and Administrative Director for Zemba Brothers Troy Hindel said that the event was all about fun for the community.
"It’s an event that we’ve had close to our hearts here for the community," said Hindel. "We put it on just so kids can come out and operate heavy equipment, something they might never get to do again."
Planning the event took months and the day featured rock wall climbing, operating machinery, bounce houses and even a chance at a pig chase. Hindel said the pig pit was the most popular location of the day.
"There’s four little piglets in there and we do little heats and the kids can get in there and try to wrestle the pigs up and if they catch on we’ve got T-shirts available for them that say ‘I caught the pig,"said Hindel.
All the Zemba Brothers asked for was a canned food donation to participate. All donations went to the East Side Community Ministry, which has partnered with the group for the last 15 years.
