MCBI to Continue Renovations and Expands Office Space

The County Commissioners were visited by the Muskingum County Business Incubator May 21.

MCBI stopped in to update the county on the progress being made to renovate the second floor of the building. Executive Director Larry Triplett said they are still in early stages of improvement but the community can look forward to many changes.

"I think people are going to see new exciting things coming out of MCBI over the upcoming years, " said Triplett.

The improvement funds come from a state grant of $225,000 that was granted to Zane State and MCBI. The partners hope to run a business from the incubator that will be led by students attending Zane State. Triplett said they aren’t sure what the business will be but they are excited about the possibilities.

"Students can be the maybe the CFO of the business the one semester and the COO the next semester and part of the staff the next semester, so they can get a true experiential experience as opposed to just a hypothetical one that they might get in a classroom, " said Triplett.

Although the interior renovations will be covered by the state grant, MCBI hopes to add handicap accessible parking spots and improve drains near the entrance of the building. They look to the county for almost $35,000 to make the improvements. The Commissioners are reviewing the information.
