Storms Leave Damage In Parts Of Zanesville

Intense storms with winds up to 50 miles and hour passed through the whiz viewing area Tuesday night. A few left significant damage and power outages in their wake.

We made a visit to the corner of Owen and Schaum this morning where large tree branches were strewn across the road and the power lines. We spoke to 20 year resident, Margaret Rodgers who told us she had never seen anything like it in her time living in town. She described what she heard when the branches fell.

"We were sitting in there watching TV and then also we heard a crackle. We all came running out–here the tree was down and the electric was out about 9 o’clock."

AEP Ohio is reporting that all power has been restored in our area. Rodgers described the experience as a scary situation.

"I mean it lit this whole street up. You know and I had my car there I was worried about my car getting hit by the electric and that but it missed my car. But and I mean it was on fire for a good half an hour."

Others branches and a large tree were also down in that area.
