Big Bothers Big Sisters of Zanesville Seeking Volunteers
Big Bothers Big Sisters of Zanesville had a very special update for us.
We spoke to Mollie Crooks, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters who told us Bowl for Kids Sake was a great success this year.
“We had again, tremendous support from the community. We raised $78,400. So thats the fundraising part of Big Brothers Big Sisters. So people have supported us in that aspect.”
If you didn’t get to donate during the Bowl for Kids Sake, Crooks said you can still help the organization out with a gift of time. The organization is seeking summer volunteers to be a mentor for the children in our community. Crooks told us about the benefits it brings the children.
“Research shows that mentoring through Big Brothers Big Sisters is very beneficial for our children. Children that are mentored will do better in school, they will graduate high school, they will go on to college or career job readiness. They show greater self esteem and self confidence in setting and meeting their goals and they also are more likely to avoid risky behaviors.”
You are only required to meet with your little at a minimum of twice a month. If you would like to become a volunteer or learn more about helping a child in your community, you can call the number: (740) 453-7300
You will go through a personal interview and background check.
