Spring Into Gardening: Tips, Benefits, and the 22nd Annual Spring Garden Symposium
ZANESVILLE, OH –Spring is just around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to start thinking about your garden.
Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a beginner, there’s always something new to learn and enjoy.
“The biggest tip for gardeners is anyone can garden. It does not take a lot of knowledge, you can learn very easily, and the rewards are amazing,” Beth Brown, Muskingum Garden Society volunteer said. “You can garden anywhere; you don’t have to have a large yard. I mean, even if you have just a porch or a balcony off an apartment, you can garden off of that with containers.”
As we’re seeing more sunlight each day, it’s important to remember that the best time to start gardening outdoors in Zanesville is after May 15th—that’s the golden rule, even if the weather looks nice for a while. Gardening is a perfect family activity, and it’s something you should put on your radar.
“I would strongly recommend grabbing your children to come garden. In today’s world, we’ve got all those devices, and we’re always busy focusing on electronics. Get your children outside and teach them gardening,” Brown continued. “The mental health rewards — it’s stress-relieving to garden outside. You can be creative in how you want to garden, and just learning about nature is wonderful to teach our children. It helps us too. We connect with each other by doing that.”
The Garden Society will be holding their 22nd annual Spring Garden Symposium on March 1st, from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm.
Reservations are $40, and tickets at the door are $45. Breakfast and lunch are included, if you’re interested in blossoming in your gardening skills—and your love of nature visit mvgardensociety.org.
