Artists Of The Month: PowerHouse

The Artist Colony of Zanesville is representing not one, but many this coming Friday.

The young, up and coming artists of PowerHouse of Southeastern Ohio will have their art on display. We had the chance to speak to varsity title services owner and councilman, Rob Sharrer about the event who told us there is a variety of different art on display. Everything from photography, pin art, paintings and even spray paint can be enjoyed.

“PowerHouse is a multi-disciplinary art group designed for kids grades 5 to 12. It is a non profit organization basically to allow kids to experience art, learn about art and develop their talents.”

There will also be other entertainment for the public to enjoy. There will be demonstrations from a spray paint artist, the sparks improv team, live music from petrichor and refreshments. Sharrer explains the importance of getting children involved in the arts.

“As we work through society today it’s important to involved our children in art and extracurricular activities. It gives them a sense of accomplishment and allows them to express emotions and feelings. It gives them a positive way to do that.”

The event will be held from 5PM to 8:30PM in the Varsity Title Services Building in Downtown Zanesville. All are invited to come out and attend. If you miss the artists work on Friday, you can stop by their booth at the Y-Bridge arts festival.
