Amicone Meets with County Commissioners
The Fieldhouse Family Fitness Center owner, Mick Amicone, met with the Muskingum County Commissioners Thursday to talk about his proposed plan to buy property at the Sunrise Center.
Amicone said he is in the process of expanding, and hopes to purchase 27.6 acres of land, adjacent to the Fieldhouse. The land he plans to purchase would include the Muskingum County Center for Seniors. He offered multiple proposals to sell back or lease the senior center to the county commissioners.
“The senior center has a 42,000 square foot facility, we have a 115,000 square foot facility, we would purchase that and lease back to them a smaller area so we can expand into the area that is adjoining to their facility,” he said. “So it would give them a lot smaller payment amount, it would give them less exposure, less debt to service, and it would also help their expansion efforts.”
Amicone said he hopes to still follow through with the project long-term, even if commissioners aren’t on board with his proposal.
“Because of the price that we can purchase it for, we’ve also helped maintain the shopping center and we also do some general maintenance that we’ll be given some credit for,” he said. “So it could be a very affordable purchase for us and their buy being even more affordable opportunity for the county and the senior center.”
While Amicone’s plans are timely, the county commissioners have yet to reach a decision on the matter.
