Kids Escaping the Heat with a Summer Swim
If you haven’t already noticed, it’s hot outside, and kids are cooling down with a summer swim to escape the heat.
The Muskingum Family YMCA is a popular destination for the kiddos, and the attraction underwent some renovating this year to get ready for these busy summer months. Lifeguard David Griffin explained…
“We actually painted the whole pool, drained it this past winter, painted the whole thing and then installed a new filter system,” he said.
Griffin said the pool hasn’t seen much of an increase in visitors yet this year, but anticipates a larger turnout as the summer progresses.
“It’s been a good year so far, it’s been a little colder I’ve noticed in the weather, so there haven’t been as many kids, but I think the weather is getting nicer now as the summer goes on, so I think there will be a lot more kids that come out,” he said. “Lots of people with the hot weather and humidity, they’ve been coming and trying to break the heat.”
Hours are 12-7, Monday through Saturday, and 1-6 on Sunday. The “Y” is open to the public, and the daily fee is $5 per person.
