Paws & Claws Summer Jam Held At Fairgrounds

The community came out to play cornhole for the Animal Shelter Society Saturday evening!

The second annual Paws & Claws Summer Jam was held at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds. Executive Director of the Animal Shelter, Jody Murray told us more about some of the things that participants enjoyed.

"Our cornhole tournament started a little bit ago after the rain passed through. We have about 17 teams. They’re actively playing right now. First place is going to win $200 so once that’s over we have the band DoubleCut that’s going to be playing tonight and pizza drinks, things like that."

Murray said they have raised a couple thousand dollars from the event. All of the money went straight back to the Shelter. Murray shared more about that.

"We have about three big fundraisers a year and we started this event last year. It was our first year last year and all this money comes right back to the Shelter to help us with day to day operations, particularly right now we’ve been talking the last few weeks about how many cats and kittens we’re having so our demand is really high right now and this is just one of the events that we’re doing to help fund what goes on at the Shelter."

Murray thanked their corporate sponsors for helping to make the event possible. To see the full list you can visit the Animal Shelter Society’s Facebook page. The Shelter’s next big fundraiser will be in September, but you can donate to their cause at any point during the year.
