Staying Safe this Summer

Thursday, Riesbeck’s in South Zanesville invites the community to celebrate summer with its fun summer safety event.

Folks can come out and learn how to stay safe and still have fun in the sun. Riesbeck’s Pharmacy, Genesis Healthcare System, Muskingum County Safe Community Coalition, the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department, and Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office are all taking part in the event.

“We’re trying to keep everybody safe this summer, especially now with all this bad rain that’s coming, we want everybody to be prepared,” said Store Events Coordinator, Jane Dombroski. “There’s going to be information on sunscreen safety, stroke awareness, and some of the other sponsors are going to have some really neat things for the community, so I think it’s important if you wanna come over and have some fun and see what it’s all about.”

Other topics being covered at the event include motorcycle safety, bicycle & ATV helmet safety, proper car seat installation, and more. Genesis Community Education Consultant, Andi Stollard, said Genesis Healthcare will be providing information on how to protect yourself from skin cancer.

“Everyone can come out, bring your family if you’re coming in shopping… just stop on out, we’ll be right outside the exit and have all kinds of information,” Stollard said.

Sheriff Matt Lutz said the sheriff’s office will also be taking child ID card photos that the parent can carry in case the child goes missing.

The event is from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, weather permitting.
