Car Strikes Home of Wayne Township Fire Chief

The Duncan Falls Fire Chief said his house shifted an inch or two after a car collided with it Sunday afternoon.

The incident began when a Chevy Cruise headed north bound on State Route 60 struck a white Jeep Cherokee that failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection of Mill street and State Route 60.

The collision caused the Jeep to veer left and strike the home of Wayne Township Fire Chief Donald Alexander. The Cruise came to a stop in front of the home. Alexander explained how he discovered the accident.

“I heard this first crash,” said Alexander. “It sounded like a tire blew up over at BP or something, he keeps bicycle tires… and just seconds later, this tremendous crash. I thought ‘a whole car blew up’ I came out and looked and here they are and some kid says ‘she’s have seizures, call 911’. ”

The State Highway Patrol said that both drivers were transported with non-life threatening injuries and the Wayne Township Fire Department confirmed the drivers were awake and conscious at the time.

A witness report suggested that the women driving the Jeep may have experienced seizure like symptoms at the time of the accident but the State Highway Patrol could not confirm. Chief Alexander’s home on 264 Main Street suffered exterior and interior damage.

Traffic was delayed for about 20 minutes while the accident was under investigation.
