Dump Truck Flips On 83 South

A dump truck flipped onto its side east of Adamsville Monday afternoon.

The call for the accident came shortly after 2PM. We spoke to Trooper Campbell of the Ohio State Highway Patrol who told us 51 year old Mitchell Garrett of Zanesville was driving the truck for Coshocton Trucking Inc. along State Route 83 South when the driver went off the right side of the roadway striking a fence and a natural gas line. The truck flipped onto its side spilling its load of coal. Garrett was transported by New Concord EMS to Genesis Hospital with chest pain. The roadway was closed until crews could get the natural gas line shut off. New Concord Fire, Adamsville Fire and EMS and the Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency also responded to the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
