Footgolf at Vista

There will be a footgolf tournament on Saturday, June 27.

The Rosecrans men’s soccer team will have a fundraising footgolf outing Saturday. Rosecrans head coach Roderick Gibson said the event will help the team get many necessary items as the season quickly approaches. He explained why people should play.

“You’re kind of taking the best of two sports,” he said. “You’re taking the relaxation of golf, just being able to come out on the golf course and be able to enjoy the breeze and enjoy the views, and you’re mixing it with the best of soccer which is just kicking the ball. There’s no running, it’s just simply aim, kick repeat.”

All money raised will go right back to the men’s soccer team. They’ll use the money to purchase new uniforms and training equipment. Just like a regular golf outing, you’ll need to bring your own balls and clubs. It’s just a different set.

“Bring your own soccer ball,” Gibson said. “We can’t wear cleats on the golf course obviously. The frown upon that, so wear flat-bottomed shoes. And yeah, bring your own ball and get ready to have fun.”

Gibson anticipates around 60 to 70 people to attend. If you want to play, you can still register on the team’s Facebook page. It’s a team tournament with a $40 per person entry fee.
