Flame Burns Bright in Zanesville
The ‘Flame of Hope’ burned through Zanesville today.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run raised money and awareness about the athletes from this community who are competing in the Special Olympics this Friday.
“Well you know I’m most excited about interacting with the athletes that we meet here,” said St./Lt. State Highway Patrol Anne Ralston. “We’ll be meeting with the Muskingum County athletes who have qualified to go to their state summer games.”
The run ended at the court house. Runners and athletes were greeted by a crowd of supporters as they carried the flaming torch to the finish line. Trisha Huston is competing in Columbus Ohio this year. She is vision and hearing impaired but it’s not stopping her from following the torch all the way to the Olympics.
“Excited… Excited and I want to show everybody I can do it,” said Huston.
The final leg of the run will take place on Friday evening when representatives from all over Ohio come together to run to Jesse Owens Stadium to officially begin the Olympics.
