Local Kids Finish Up Manufacturing Camp

The manufacturing camp hosted at the Advanced Science and Technology Center of Zane State wrapped up today.

The week featured tours of various businesses in the local area and hands on activities for the students to get involved in. Chloe Daniels is preparing for the 8th grade and she enjoyed the opportunity to learn the ins and outs.

“To really know what they do, instead of just guessing at how it was made,” said Daniels. “We get to actually see and experience what they would experience everyday.”

Zane State Instructor of Oil and Gas Technology Paul Paslay aided in the week long camp and he thinks Muskingum County may have some future inventors in their midst.

“I think so,” said Paslay. “There’s some good ideas with some of them. There’s some of them who could definitely think of some products. I think a lot of them liked the fact, especially when we saw the incubator, that you can kind of start from scratch.”

The program was created by U.S Senator Sherrod Brown and the hope is that camps like this one will spread throughout the state of Ohio. The students were presented with personal certificates signed by the Senator.
