MCCF Awards Scholarship to West Muskingum Student
Emma Glaze was presented with a $500.00 scholarship at the Muskingum County Community Foundation.
The Jesse Miller Memorial Scholarship is in honor of the Miller’s son, who passed away in 1998. Miller’s mother, Mary said they look for those applicants who have worked hard and stand out.
“We look for people who have overcome some kind of an obstacle,” said Miller. “Our son had ADD and struggled with school sometimes and so we look for someone who’s had some kind of a struggle and was able to tell us how they’ve overcome that struggle. ”
Glaze is headed to Ohio University Athens to major in athletic training and minor in psychology. She is very grateful for the money and said it will help to buy books.
“Being from middle class, you don’t really get that much from the state and federal government so anything helps,” said Glaze.
The Jesse Miller Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a West Muskingum student who has been accepted to a two or four year university. Applicants need letters of recommendations, a record of involvement in the community and school, as well as nominations from the recipient’s peers.
