Golf Tournament to Benefit ZPD K-9 Unit
The Zanesville Police Department’s K-9 Unit reached out to the community June 27.
Green Valley Golf Course hosted the golf tournament fundraiser that will help the department fund their K-9 officers.
“Well many of the members of the community don’t realize that our K-9 Unit is funded by donations only, so we’re trying to do this to raise some funds for the K-9s because they are a very important part of our community and for the citizens of Zanesville,” said Allison Buck of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
12 teams showed up to golf despite the rainy weather. There were door prizes, hole contests and food available and one K-9 in blue named Conner showed up to say thank you for all the help.
“We just let him out and he hasn’t tried to take a french fry, or a hamburger, or hot dog yet so he’s being on his best behavior so far,” said Buck.
The department estimated they raised over $7,000 today and they would like to thank the Zanesville community for their support.
