Ohio Amateur Golf Championship Comes to Zanesville
The Ohio Amateur Golf Championship is being hosted at the Zanesville Country Club for the 4th time. Ohio’s best golfers, including three of Zanesville’s very own will tee off next Tuesday to begin the official tournament.
The Country Club’s Head Golf Professional Mike Durant said Zanesville is lucky to see such a prestigious championship in the local community.
“The winner of this event traditionally has a very nice career on the PGA tour so you’re going to see some of the very best golfers the country has to offer,” said Durant.
The club is looking for volunteers to caddy, spot balls and help with the score board. All those interested will take part in a caddy class on Sunday evening prior to the tournament. Durant said the golfers appreciate the Zanesville community every time they visit.
“Well, like the last time we hosted this tournament in 2005 and the players when they left here said this was one of their very favorite golf courses that they play. [the golfers said] ‘they should have the Ohio Amateur here more often’ and they said our community was very warm and friendly,” said Durant.
The event is open to the public and Durant encourages the local community to come and support Ohio’s best amateur golfers.
