Stars and Stripes on The River
A two day festival at Zane’s Landing Park will celebrate the 4th of July before the bang.
Of course, the bang comes Saturday night with the annual fireworks show, but Zanesville Jaycees Vice President, Sean Brady, said the two day event on Friday and Saturday will prep people for the grand finale Saturday night. That show will be launched from the Y-Bridge. Brady says, even though the launching point will change, you’ll still be able to view the show from Zane’s Landing.
“Not a real big change as far as where you need to watch the fireworks at,” Brady said. “You just need to rotate the head to a different direction on the water.”
The annual Stars and Stripes on the river starts Friday at 5:30 with the first of many bands playing on the stage. Brady said a dozen vendors will also be there, but he added there is much more to the festival.
“For the people that just want to come hang out and relax and wait on the fireworks on the 4th, we obviously have music that will be going on,” Brady said. “But we do have some carnival rides and some popcorn and things like that.”
The event is free and open to the public. During the event, the Jaycees will give away $5,000 in scholarships to recently graduated high school seniors.
