Zane State’s New President Officially Starts

Zane State College’s new president started his second day on the job Thursday.

Dr. Chad Brown has been with the college for roughly 11 years, and a history of success is what brought him to his new position. The former provost and executive vice president of Zane State, said most of his work over the years has been mainly focused on student success initiatives.

“How do we help the students that come in the door finish their degree and and work towards completion, that’s a a big piece of what we do, so a lot of my work has been around building a comprehensive first-year experience for our students, helping our students who started in developmental education build a structured pathway to get through their degree,” Brown said.

The central Ohio native has a Bachelor of Arts from Capital University, a Master’s of Science from the University of Michigan, and a doctorate from Ohio University. During his time at Zane State, the college has been recognized nationally for its student success initiatives, and also acknowledged for the data-driven culture on campus.

“It’s been a real unique opportunity to grow up in an organization and then now have the opportunity to lead it,” he said.

Brown said one of his favorite aspects of his job are the people and community. Tune into WHIZ news Friday night as we’ll take a more in depth look at what Dr. Brown’s plans are for the college moving forward.
