Local Church Holding Fundraiser to Give Back

St. Luke Lutheran Church is having a community fundraiser Saturday in an effort to give back.

The event will feature live music, games, raffles and prizes for the entire family. Both the Zanesville Police and Fire Departments will make an appearance.

Church member, Steve Oliver explained, “all the proceeds will go to reaching out to the community to help the community’s needs. There will be some clothing to give away, we also work with the food pantries around here, clothes for the kids, just so many things that we need to do that we’re called to do, and we have this to let people be aware, we want to do this we want to help people.”

The church has been in existence since 1903, and Oliver said it’s the first time they’ve done anything like this.

“We are an evangelical Lutheran church of America, so we’re evangelizing to reach out to people to help people, that is our main goal, God sent us here to help people, that’s what we’re trying to do,” Oliver said.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, at St. Luke Lutheran Church on Pine Street. All proceeds benefit the church’s community outreach.
