Area Agency of Aging Seeks Committee Member in Muskingum County
The Area Agency on Aging in Region nine stopped by the County Commissioner’s July 9, in search of a committee member to represent Muskingum County on their Regional Advisory Committee.
The ‘Older Americans Act’ funds the Agency for Aging and requires a council. The act is being reviewed for re-authorization in D.C. right now and as the process continues at the national level, Executive Director James Endly is working to create a strong team to advocate for the needs of seniors in the local area.
“Well they have to engaged in the community,” said Endly. “They have to be concerned about older adults and resources for older adults. They’re also required to be over 60 years old.”
Responsibilities for the committee member would include recommending services and financial assistance to the board of the agency. The committee will also report what services exist for seniors in the area and how they can improve. Endly said they have high hopes for the person who takes the position.
“We’re hoping for someone that has a passion for community service, that can speak clearly about the needs of the older adults in Muskingum County and that can take information back and has a good working relationship with the Commissioner’s office, with the Senior Center, and with the residents of Muskingum County.”
Those interested can contact the County Commissioner’s Office or the Area Agency on Aging in Cambridge.
