Ohio Amateur Going Down to the Wire
Fifty-four holes haven’t been enough to produce an outright leader in the Ohio Amateur Championship at Zanesville Country Club. Jack Sparling, Jonathan Feldkamp, Jared Howard and Logan Lagodich have created a four-way tie for first place with one round to play.
Sparling held a one-stroke lead at the halfway mark by carding a 139 (69-70) but slipped in the third round with one-over 73. Feldkamp drew level with an even-par 72 while Howard and Lagodich each fired a one-under 71.
Three of the four leaders will play in the same group in the final round, teeing off at 10:10 Friday morning. Feldkamp is set to tee off 10 minutes prior with Todd Humrichouser and Blake Foutty, who are tied for fifth at one-under. Foutty carded the top third-round score with a four-under 68.
The final 18 holes also promise to have some local flavor. Reigning Z.C.C. champ A.T. Spires made the second and final cut by shooting a one-over 73 and will tee off at 8 a.m. West Muskingum grad Josh Brandon missed the cut line by one stroke, turning in a 54-hole score of 224. Crooksville grad Joe Allen missed the cut by six strokes.
