Light the Night Comes in the Fall, Community Gears Up

The Light the Night kickoff was hosted at the OUZ Campus Center this evening.

Those looking to participate in the September walk came together to discuss the months of fundraising ahead. Member of the Executive Board Jim Stafford explained what brings him to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

“I’ve lost three friends to this disease and I even have clients… I’m a Forester.. but I have clients that I find out also had this disease and we can with the funds we raise help with co-payments for treatment,” said Stafford.

1.2 million people in the U.S live with some form of blood cancer. Stafford said that means it touches many.

“It does impact people in this community and this area,” said Stafford. “It’s important to probably to help out and I bet everybody watching your broadcast knows of someone that is affected by a blood cancer.”

Those who didn’t get involved tonight still have a chance to walk in September by registering online.
