Injury Accident Sends one to OSU Medical Center

An area woman was transported by med flight to Ohio State University Medical Center after a one vehicle accident this afternoon.

It happened just after 2 p.m. just North of Duncan Falls on State Route 60. Lieutenant Matt Boyd with the Zanesville post of the State Highway Patrol said 31 year old Heather McMannis of Duncan Falls was headed South on 60 at the time of the crash.

Boyd said McMannis may have lost consciousness behind the wheel which resulted in her failure to brake.

She hit an embankment on the other side of the road after crossing two North bound lanes. Boyd said she suffered serious injuries, but the extent is unknown at this time. She was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. North and South bound traffic was delayed for almost an hour while crews worked to clear the scene.

The State Highway Patrol responded along with the Wayne Township Fire Department, and Genesis Community ambulance.The accident remains under investigation.
