Buckeye Lake Businesses Seek Aid
More than a dozen businesses near Buckeye Lake say they’ve lost significant revenue with the water kept low as plans are made to replace a deteriorated dam. The businesses detailed their losses on forms intended to help the Governor apply for an economic disaster declaration, which would lead to possible federal aid for the area. A spokesman for Governor John Kasich says the office couldn’t yet say when that request will be made to the federal small business administration. At least 14 Buckeye Lake businesses submitted economic injury forms by Friday’s deadline, including marinas, bait shops, a barge service, restaurants and the local historical society. Many owners in the area had anticipated big hits to tourism, eateries and water-related business because of the lower lake level.
