JobsOhio Visits Zanesville
The U.S is the largest producer of natural gas and oil in the world, and part of that has to do with the booming shale industry right here in southeastern Ohio.
JobsOhio and the Appalachian Partnership for Economic Growth met with community leaders at OUZ Thursday, to discuss southeastern Ohio’s recent economic success.
“We’re seeing some pickup in certain industries, and we’ve had some significant wins here, and significant announcements,” said John Minor, JobsOhio President & CIO. “So when you look at the shale activity, which is a lot of what’s driving positive economic growth here in the region, that’s been impactful, you can also look at some of the other sectors, such as advanced manufacturing, that’s going to help drive the economy going forward.”
Both organizations partner together with local developmental agencies to help expand Ohio businesses, in an effort to increase jobs throughout the state.
“Our focus is to really take a private sector approach to economic development here in Ohio, that means how we work with companies and our clients that are growing and expanding here in the state, as well as attracting those that are not in Ohio, and how we tell the Ohio story to get more companies and businesses to do more here in Ohio,” Minor said.
Minor said JobsOhio was created by Governor Kasich back in 2011 to make economic development efforts more effective in the state.
