Kindergarten School Supplies Giveaway
One local organization is aiming to help families all across Muskingum County with the burden of high school-supply costs this year.
For students entering kindergarten, the Muskingum Families and Children First Council is offering an event to ensure they have what they need for their first day of school.
“They get a backpack, they get to go around and pick out supplies, and we have activities for them, we have an obstacle course, we have a bicycle helmet fitting and giveaway, so its going to be a lot of fun,” said Thasia Schilling, M.F.C.F.C Administrative Assistant.
The 20 different agencies that make up the Muskingum Families and Children’s First Council provided all of the donations. Schilling said they’ve received more donations this year than ever before.
“It’s really important, and the schools have loved it, we love doing it, and it’s fun to see them that day, and see the kids get so excited as they start their journey,” Schilling said.
The giveaway is this Saturday on the campus of OUZ, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. As part of the event, students and their parents will also have the opportunity to meet teachers from their school.
