Zanesville Community Improvement Corp. Meets About Building Updates
Dutro Ford has shown interest in purchasing and demolishing the Zanesville Police Department evidence building in downtown Zanesville.
The demolition of the fourth street property is part of their twelve million dollar project. Mayor Jeff Tilton said the city will lease a portion of the Times Recorder building from Dutro until they can make their move to share space with the Times Recorder. Tilton explained how the city and T-R will share the space.
“We will use just the annex at this time and they’re right now kind of separating that from the old building,” said Tilton. “Well like I said, in the basement we will have evidence and the gymnasium and then upstairs we will have office space right now which we don’t have in the evidence building.”
The meeting was also used for a sub-committee to update the whole group on a project months in the making.
“We are really right now starting to finalize the lease agreement with Columbia Gas,” said Tilton. “Council has approved the money so that we can make renovations to the property which Columbia Gas has wanted lease the building, putting fencing up, graveling, some lighting improvements and some installation and ceiling improvements. ”
The city will lease the building to Columbia Gas and the money will go back to the the Fire Department fund, as that fund was used to construct the building.
