Friends of Secrest Discuss Renovations with Commissioners

ZANESVIILE, OH – The Friends of Secrest Auditorium recently met with Muskingum County Commissioners to discuss the ongoing and planned renovations.

Renovations to the outside of the building got underway about 2 weeks ago but there is still more work to be done.

Andrew Leveck, a Friends of Secrest Board member, said the board is still working to get the funds to finish the interior of the theater.

“The part of the project that we’re working on, our Foundation is working on, is completely remodeling the inside,” Leveck said. “New seating, new floor treatments, acoustical treatments on the walls, and possibly, a completely new modern, sound package for the venue.”

Leveck said these renovations will help to not only improve Secrest for its music acts and guests, but also help to bolster the local economy.

“We view, that by enhancing and making Secrest a more modern facility, bringing it into the 21st century, for example, that we could become a competitive, we could present a competitive venue for acts that typically haven’t performed here but will perform here,” Leveck said. “Once we are able to give them a venue that is superior and sound and that the audiences are very comfortable when they come to see their favorite acts.”

Leveck says the remaining cost of the renovation project is about $1 Million.
