Pottery Gets Tattooed

The Y-Bridge Art Festival filled Zane’s Landing Aug. 8.

One artist at the festival is taking pottery somewhere it’s never been before, combining her love of art and ink.

“I started doing pottery about four or five years ago, found out that I really liked getting dirty and playing in all the mud,” said owner of Inked Earth Holly Murphy. “I’m bound and determined to not get a real job so I work very hard at it. I started doing the tattoo style things here about two years ago and it has been received amazingly. So many people are really liking it. It’s very unique. You can’t really find this stuff anywhere else. ”

Art is a full-time job for the mother of two. She said she works hard to provide for her daughters and continue to live life doing what she loves and it’s beginning to become a family affair.

“Oh definitely,” said Murphy. “Their father is an artist also. Their grandparents are artists. We have artists all through our family and it’s kind of fun that my kids can say they have their very own pottery studio in their house. They’ve been doing all kinds of their own little things they’ve been having a ball doing it.”

Murphy has enjoyed the chance to share her work and meet other artists and to show her daughters the value of hard work.
