Farmers Market Continues to Provide Fresh Produce Weekly
Crowds of people looking for fresh local produce flooded the Zanesville Farmers Market Aug. 8.
Veteran Farmer Hilary Arnold of Arnold Farms said he enjoyed making connections with people at his stand. He’s been spending his Saturday mornings with them for almost 10 years.
“You start with this seed or the plant and you carry it all the way through and then you produce something that you’re able to sell to somebody, that they enjoy,” said Arnold. “To me it’s very enjoyable, what I do.”
While some are staples at the market, other vendors are just getting started. Randell Gregg of Hutch’s Haven is bringing organic produce with no pesticides. She said it’s about sharing her passion for healthy eating.
“It’s hard just kind of finding organic food at a decent price,” said Gregg. “You go in the grocery store, of course, it’s very elevated in price. We actually keep up with the regular produce, it’s kind of affordable for everybody.”
Corn, beans and melons are all making an appearance in August and the Farmers Market will be downtown for two weeks after Aug. 8 when the fair comes to town. It will return to the fairgrounds following the Muskingum County Fair.
