Golf Tournament to Benefit Senior Dinner
The Fraternal Order of Police gathered on the green Aug. 9.
The organization hosted a golf tournament in order to raise funds for the Senior Citizen’s Christmas Dinner. They hope to raise 5,000 dollars in the coming months.
“A lot of them are former employees of the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Department, Zanesville Police Department, and every other law agency here but a lot of them are just citizens that have helped us along the way, support the FOP and it’s just our way to give back a little bit to the community,” said Zanesville Police Department Captain Tony Coury.
Teams came out to support the cause and compete with friends. The outing saw two hole in one’s and Coury’s team came out with the win.
“11 under par and we played well but it was a close competition and we’re not really playing for anything,” said Coury. “We play for T-shirts and we don’t take any money for our winning team. ”
Not only will the FOP raise money for the dinner, but they will help serve meals to up to 1,000 seniors in the community.
