Sheriff: Biggest Meth Seizure Ever
A Zanesville man is facing drug charges after several different law enforcement agencies seized more than four pounds of methamphetamine from a Zanesville residence.
The Muskingum County Grand Jury indicted 44-year-old Walter Lee Coffee on 19 counts, including charges of possession and trafficking of drugs, engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, money laundering, and having weapons while under disability.
“In the investigation, we seized over four pounds of methanphetamine with a street value of more than $190,000, it’s by far one of the biggest, if not the biggest seizure that we’ve ever done from one location with talking about 4-and-a-half pounds of meth,” Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz said.
During the afternoon hours Friday, authorities executed a search warrant at the address of 924 Ayers Street in Zanesville. Lutz said they also seized six firearms, two vehicles, and additional U.S. currency.
“A total of six individuals were located at the property, three of the individuals were juveniles, whom were turned over to family services, two other adults were released at the scene,” Lutz said.
As a result of the investigation, Lutz said more charges and arrests could come in the future. Coffee is currently being held in the Muskingum County Jail on a $1 million bond.
