OSU Wrestling Coach Speaks to Local High School
The Ohio State University’s Head Wresting Coach made a special appearance at Morgan High School Friday.
Long-time coach, Tom Ryan, treated the teachers to a special motivational speech to help prepare them for the upcoming school year.
“I think the reality I would like to share is that life is hard, and whether you’re a janitor, a bus driver, teacher, whomever you are, your life matters, that you’re impacting young people and that they need to connect, because they way we think will impact those we’re around, so it’s good to be here opening day and give a little motivation and a little reality,” Ryan said.
Throughout his nine-year tenure at OSU, Ryan has been named National coach of the year three times and led Ohio State to its first ever National title last season. Ryan said he uses his platform to make a difference.
“The main message for me is the lack of guarantees in life, and to really consider that what is the one guarantee, the one guarantee is death, so we have two options, there’s two options and both can’t be true, one option is there is a divine creator and one option is chance, so take the time and use your mind, don’t believe because mommy or daddy believes, or uncle believes, or auntie believes, or your buddy believes, believe because you took the time to really study and learn about some of the facts on each,” Ryan said.
Ryan said he hopes to continue sharing his story with others in the future.
