Task Force/ZPD Drug Bust Sets Record
The fight against drugs hit high gear with this month’s drug bust that netted four pounds of methamphetamine. Â It was an example of how the Muskingum County/Zanesville City Joint Drug Task Force works. Â That Group includes the Zanesville Police Department Special Response Team, Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office, US Postal Service, Ohio Organized Crime Investigative Commission/High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force and the Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office. Â Authorities say on Friday August 7th they seized the meth, six firearms, two vehicles and US currency. Â As a result of the investigation 44-year-old Walter Lee Coffee of Zanesville was indicted on 19 counts which includes possession of drugs, engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity and money laundering. Â The bust happened at 924 Ayers Street. Â Coffee remains in the Muskingum County Jail on $1,000,000 bond. Â Authorities say the four pounds of meth that was siezed was the most ever in one bust in Muskingum County.
