OVI Checkpoints Result in Multiple Arrests

Making contact with 258 vehicles, saturation patrols conducted two OVI checkpoints in Guernsey County Friday.

The two checkpoints, one on U.S. 22 and the other on S.R. 209, was conducted by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Byesville Police Department and the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office. According to a press release from the State Highway Patrol, the average inspection time was 20 seconds.

During the inspections, two vehicles were diverted, resulting in one OVI arrest. Also, patrols arrested two more impaired drivers, one stolen vehicle recovery with an apprehension, one felony arrest for improper transportation of a firearm in a motor vehicle and two probable cause searches resulting in a single minor misdemeanor for drugs.
