Fatal Accident in Fairfield County

A man from Blacklick, just east of Columbus died in a single vehicle accident Sunday afternoon.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that Arthur W. Wedemeyer, 56, was traveling south on SR 664 in Rush Creek Township, north of mile post 5, when the accident occurred at approximately 12:50 p.m. According to the State Highway Patrol, Wedemeyer veered off the right side of the road, striking a guardrail.

He was then ejected from the 1999 Honda Shadow that he was riding. The motorcycle continued to move down the guardrail before coming to a stop on its right side.

"Wedemeyer succumbed to his injuries enroute to the hospital," a press release from the Lancaster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol stated. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, and the state patrol does not suspect alcohol to be a factor in the accident. The Lancaster Post of the State Highway Patrol is still investigating.
