Patrol will increase troopers for Labor Day

ZANESVILLE,Ohio– The State Highway Patrol will be increasing trooper presence with the approaching Labor Day holiday weekend.
Sergeant Kevin Kelly with the Zanesville post said many will be traveling to celebrate the holiday. Kelly said Interstate 70 is typically the most traveled roadway in our area.
“We’re anticipating a lot of traffic this weekend from everyone traveling in and out of the state,” Sergant Kelly said. ” All your local people trying to get in that last hoorah before the summer is over.”
Kelly shared tips for travelers so they’ll make it to their destination safely.
“Well, the biggest thing is as usual not just this weekend is slowing down. Maintaining the proper distance when following someone else. Make sure that you wear your seat belt. Make sure that if you do decide to have a few drinks designate a driver for you. Don’t drink and drive,” Kelly said.
Kelly said this weekend there will be a lot of troopers out and about looking for impaired drivers.
