Harness Races Come to a Close
Harness Racing came to a close Aug. 17 and we caught up with Speed Superintendent of the Fairboard Tom Forker to see how things went.
The races took center stage for two days this week. Harness Drivers traveled from all over Ohio to compete for first place which includes bragging rights and a cash prize. Forker said the race horses have been missing but he’s excited to announce their galloping return to the Muskingum County Fair tradition.
“It’s been rough through the years but the horses are back and we look for a bigger field next year," said Forker. "They’re coming back like wild fire.”
Spectators of the races also had the chance to place their bets on the horse and driver of their choice. Forker said the bets feed the need for competition. He hopes to see the horse races continue to grow in the coming years.
