ZAAP Artist of the Month: Judy McKee

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project has selected their featured Artist of the Month.

Judy McKee said she was excited when she found out that she had been selected as ZAAP’s Artist of the Month. McKee said her inspirations come from close by.

“I paint local things,” said McKee. “I love to paint horses. I paint mostly Southeastern, Ohio. Maybe a Pennsylvania barn here or there. I like to go outside and work in the plain air.”

McKee said she has been painting ever since she retired as an art teacher in Noble County 19 years ago. McKee works primarily with oil paints and she said she is excited for fall to come around because she loves to paint the autumn foliage.

“I like the color and how the trees change. We just have a real pretty area to paint,” said McKee.

McKee’s art is now on display at the ZAAP Gallery downtown.
