“Kindergarten Here I Come” Program

On Saturday the public library is teaming up with Zanesville City Schools for their first ever “Kindergarten Here I Come” program for local children entering kindergarten and their parents.

The program will take place from 10-11 a.m. and activities will include fun stories about the first day of school, examples of activities kids can expect to do while in kindergarten and a craft project. The morning will be wrapped up with a chance for kids to practice boarding a school bus in the Shinnick Street parking lot.

“For the conclusion of the project, each child will board a school bus that will be in the front parking lot. We understand sometimes that it’s traumatic if not for the child but for the parents so we thought we could get some of that out of the way before the first day of school. There will be photo opportunities with the school bus and it’s just a great way to get kids off to a positive beginning with their kindergarten career.” explains Blair Tom, the assistant director at the Zanesville Public Library

This is the first time the library has offered a program like this and Blair Tom is very excited to launch it and grow it moving forward.

“We’re really excited to partner with families that way and to just be a part of that milestone in their family’s life and then to work with the school district to begin that relationship with the student and the districts.” he says

If interested, be sure to stop by the library tomorrow from 10-11 for all of the fun and activities.
