Meet Earl, The Pet of The Week

Every Friday we stop by the Animal Shelter Society to feature our pet of the week.
This week we met Earl. Â Earl is a yorkie breed that has been in the shelter since June as a stray and is about 10-years-old.
Jody Murray, Executive Director at the Animal Shelter Society said that Earl has some vision problems, but that doesn’t stop him from seeking out attention.
“Overall Earl’s very friendly and gets along with people,” said Murray. Â “He’s not on any medication or anything like that, he’s just an older dog that’s very calm and likes to be around people.”
Earl’s adoption fee is $65 and Murray said that he encourages people to come out to the shelter and spend some time with Earl.
Murray also mentioned that older dogs are typically over looked next to the younger ones, but he said that sometimes the older dogs are the ones that make the best pets.
“Earl would be a great dog for someone that’s home all the time that wants a companion,” said Murray. Â “If you want a companion, someone to spend a lot of time with and be a lap dog, then Earl would be great for that.”
The Animal Shelter Society will also be hosting its annual benefit auction on September 24th at Zane State. Â Tickets are available for purchase at the shelter.
