Watermedia Society holds juried event

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Southeastern Ohio Watermedia Society held their yearly judged exhibition at the Zanesville Art Museum.
The Watermedia Society was started in 1977 by both amateur and professional artists that have a love of painting. Saturday at the Art Museum dozens of pieces were displayed and judged. Cynthia Dixon, the group’s president, said the Watermedia Society is open to anyone who loves painting.
“It’s basically a group of people that paint. We get together and paint, have workshops, and we have a couple of shows each year and have lots of fun,†said Dixon.
A total of $850 in prizes were awarded to six different artists. This year there was no theme and a wide variety of paintings, which will be on display at the Art Museum until January.
“Come out and see us,†said Dixon. “We’d love to let everybody come get a look. We’d like you to consider joining our organization.â€
This year, Best of Show went to Gina Judy of Richmond, Ohio.  First place went to Martha Rice of Cambridge for her piece called ‘Survivors.’
