Friday Night After Lights for Local Athletes
For their third year now, the orthopedic associates of Zanesville is offering their Friday night after the lights program.
During football season this fall, Sports Medicine Zanesville opens their doors after hours on Fridays from 9:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. for high school athletes even without an appointment.
“Patients will come and they’re just added in. I’ve actually been here until 1:00 a.m. a couple times so it can get sometimes pretty busy. Sometimes it’s hit or miss for us depending on how games go. The biggest thing we try to always say is that this is not just for football. I know with football we always say friday night after the lights, everybody thinks football because that’s where most injuries occur but if you were playing soccer that day or could have been golfing the day before and had problems getting in, we’ve had people call and get in that way as well too.” explains sports medicine doctor James Gasparine.
One of the reasons they do this is to help locals save money especially with the rising costs of health care especially in the emergency room. Patients are only responsible for a simple co-pay like in a normal doctor’s visit. The main reason though, doctor Gasparine says is…
“The main reason that we started doing it, and we’ve had a lot of positive feedback in the community was that you can be in the E.R for three to four hours, nothing negative about the E.R but there’s a lot of wait times.”
If a road game prevents you from arriving by 11 p.m. just call them and let them know and they will stay open and wait for you.
