Community Comes Together to ‘Light the Night’
Over 400 people came out to ‘Light the Night’ in Zanesville September 17.
With white, red, and gold lanterns held toward the sky, the community marched around Ohio University of Zanesville in support of those fighting and those lost to leukemia and lymphoma.
“It’s an awesome feeling,” said Committee Member of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. “It’s wonderful to have the community’s support. Zanesville and the surrounding community is one of the most giving communities you could ever ask for and I’m very proud to be involved. ”
The over $80,000 raised tonight will benefit patient care, research, and the journey to a cure. Bice said nights like Thursday play a big role in reaching the ultimate goal.
“Several thousand people a year that die of blood cancers and we need to find a cure for this and what we’re doing here tonight is a big part of finding the cure,” said Bice.
If you missed tonight’s walk but would still like to support the cause, you can visit www.lightthenight.org for information on how to get involved.
